Every morning you tell it one thing. Every evening at 6pm it asks if you did it. No feeds, no badges, no dashboard full of charts about how you spent your Tuesday. Just a small, patient nudge from the person you were this morning.

How it works
At 8am you get one blank line. Not a list — a line. Whatever you write becomes the thing you're accountable for. Most people take nine seconds.
At the hour you chose, your phone buzzes once and asks: are you done? Two buttons. There is no third button, no "partially", no snooze until Sunday.
One page a week. Seven lines, seven answers. You'll notice your patterns faster than any analytics dashboard has ever shown you.
What's inside
We shipped v1 in 2022 and have removed more than we've added since. Here's what survived the cut.
Night shift? Ask at 4am. Parent of a toddler? 9:40pm, after bedtime. One buzz, whenever you're honest.
Optionally share your answer with exactly one person. Not a feed. Not a leaderboard. A friend who'll text you.
Your lines are encrypted on-device. We can't read them, so we can't sell them, train on them, or leak them.
Miss a day and nothing dies. The streak just pauses and waits, because you're a person and not a Tamagotchi.
Every December, 365 lines printed as a single sheet. People frame them. We didn't expect that either.
No projects, tags, sub-tasks, kanban, AI assistant, or team velocity score. We've been asked. The answer is no.
Try it right here
Type it below and we'll fast-forward to 6pm. This runs entirely in your browser — nothing is sent anywhere, which is also broadly how the real app works.
Then we skip ahead ten hours.

are you done?

“I'd tried every productivity app with a calendar in it. This one has four screens total and it's the only one I've opened 300 days in a row. The dread of tapping 'not yet' is remarkably motivating.”
Mara Oyelaran
Screenwriter, Lisbon
“My thesis took four years. The last chapter took eleven weeks, and the only thing that changed was a phone asking me one question every night at 9. My supervisor has since installed it.”
Dr. Elias Ferrante

“Our studio replaced the daily standup with it. Everyone writes one line at 9am, everyone answers at 5. Meeting time down 40 minutes a day and nobody misses the standup.”
Joon-ho Park
Founder, Nine Cranes Studio
I deleted eleven apps the week I installed this one. It turns out I didn't need a system. I needed something to look me in the eye at six o'clock.

FAQ
Still stuck? Write to hello@areyoudone.app and a human called Priya will reply, usually within a day.
No, and that's not an oversight. The moment there are two things, one of them becomes the excuse for the other. One line is the entire product thesis. If you truly need lists, keep your list app — plenty of people use both.
Nothing punitive. The app says something short and unbothered, marks the day, and asks whether you'd like to carry the same line into tomorrow. If you carry the same line five days running, it gently asks whether the thing is actually too big.
Your daily lines are encrypted on your device before they ever sync. We store ciphertext, an account email, and a billing token. There is no analytics SDK in the app and there never has been. Our third-party audit from Kettleborough Security is linked in the footer of the app.
iOS 16+, Android 11+, Apple Watch, and a web version that works fine on a desktop browser. There's also an SMS-only mode for people who would rather not install anything — it texts you the question and you reply Y or N.
Four people in Rotterdam and Montreal. We're profitable, we've taken no investment, and we intend to keep the app small enough that all four of us can explain every screen in it from memory.
No. You already know what you should be doing. That has never been the hard part.
